There are two different speeds. Both are pretty quiet so they didn't scare my dog. I like the protective guard around the nail grinder so you don't cut anything but the nail. I think it would be great for dogs that have thicker, hard to cut nails.

I liked how quiet it is. I have a Maltese and chihuahua. The clippers are east to hold and fit my hand perfectly. I have small hands. It's nice to get the additional accessories too like the brush and scissors.
